School Closed Tomorrow; Snow Day Makeup Info

February 4, 2010

Fairfax County Schools are closed tomorrow, February 8.

FCPS builds in three snow days, and our absence Wednesday, February 3 was our fourth missed day. In order to make up that day, all FCPS schools will be in session on Monday, February 15 – Presidents’ Day. (February 15 will be a Gold day for students, so we will have back-to-back Gold days.)

It also is likely the students WILL now have school April 12, which originally was a student holiday, to make up for the February 5 snow day.

Bylaw Changes Proposed

January 25, 2010

In order to remain a chapter in good standing, our PTSA chapter must undergo a five-year renewal process.

In December, our Bylaws Committee met to review and revise our current bylaws. The committee was composed of Julie Tahan (Bylaws Chair), Marta Morrissey (Pres.), Susan Bell (Sec.), Kim Winston (Treas.), and Kathryn Wilber (Teacher Rep.).

At the January Board meeting, the proposed revisions were presented. A draft copy was posted in the main office mailroom at Lee High School along with documentation of the rationale for the proposed revisions. After a period of 30 days posting, the general membership will have opportunity to vote on the proposed bylaws. The Bylaws Committee welcomes any questions regarding the proposed revisions. Also, a copy can be sent to you by contacting Peter van Aartrijk at Peter@Aartrijk.com.

Voting for the adoption of the revised bylaws is slated for the February PTSA meeting.
